The Stepper's Network® home office is in Chicago. We have no licensee anyplace on the planet. [est. 1999] The first Stepping promotion was done on the Internet in 1997 by the founder Leon Whiten after taking a graduate course in electronic commerce at University of Illinois at Chicago Graduate M.S. MIS Department in 1996.
The founder has registered over 300 domain names and a large share of them are related to stepping. This Web site is a part of a family of Web sites that services the needs of the Stepper's Network®.
In the past, short names were prized by knowledgeable Internet users. So, there are not many available now -- in the case of stepping, there was/is competition from those industries related to dance and electronic stepping motors (Leon used and sold them, too in his former business.)
We have several single domain names and good two word names because we saw the potential of stepping before the late comers. The potential became most evident to me in 1997. I saw stepping classes fill-up at Malcolm X and Kennedy-King Colleges in Chicago while it was difficult to find 5 students to sign-up for a seminar I developed on using the Internet.
We teach stepping now and we are truly "The World's Oldest Web Site for Chicago-Style Stepping(SM)." The Stepper's Network® specializes in teaching those with little or no stepping/dance experience in our classes.
